On June 5-6, 2024 in Tashkent city of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the chairmanship of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan the 19th meeting of the forum of the SCO was held under the title “The role of the SCO in modern conditions: joining efforts for the sake of common security, stability and prosperity”.

The forum discussed the prospective situation of further expansion of cooperation in the framework of the SCO, increasing the efficiency of the organization’s activities and improving the activities of the SCO forum.

The meeting was attended by heads of think tanks of the member states, an observer and a member of the SCO Dialogue, as well as a wide range of experts.

On the side of Tajikistan, the Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Khayridin Usmonzoda took part in this meeting.

In his speech within the framework of the first session devoted to the topic “Priority areas of cooperation in the framework of the SCO: comprehensive realization of untapped opportunities”, Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Khayridin Usmonzoda emphasized, that the SCO forum since its establishment in 2006 has been gradually becoming an important intellectual and analytical platform for exchanging views and making efforts to develop adequate approaches to understanding and interpreting the direction of current global and regional processes.

Continuing his speech, the Director noted that today the SCO is one of the defining institutions and the main directions of international relations, covering a huge space extending from Eurasia to the Middle East.

At the same time, it was noted that in the current environment, thanks to its stability, the SCO can retain its attractiveness as a perspective region for investment.

During his speech, Khayridin Usmonzoda reminded his colleagues that one of the main principles of cooperation between the communities of the SCO member states is to encourage each other’s economic development, which is in the interests of all. Therefore, the SCO countries can work together with Tajikistan to take advantage of opportunities for the development of green industry.

As it was noted, Tajikistan is interested in expanding cooperation on the effective placement of production facilities for the manufacture of products produced on the basis of “green industry”.

In conclusion, Khayridin Usmonzoda said that the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is ready for practical cooperation in this direction with all think tanks of the SCO countries.
